About the Job
We are seeking experienced tugboat deckhand to strengthen our construction crews. The ideal candidate will have excellent mariner skills and will be a good communicator with the interest and ability to serve as a mentor/trainer to younger deckhands in training.
The company focuses on marine service projects, and the successful candidate will demonstrate versatility and the willingness to pitch in where needed. Projects are located primarily in Charleston, SC, but successful candidate must be willing to travel to other locations in South Carolina as well as North Carolina and Georgia when needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with docking, undocking, and line handling
- Perform general dock maintenance (cleaning, painting, and basic repairs)
- Stand lookout and assist the captain and crew as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Help with cargo, towing operations, and vessel upkeep
- Welding and burning
- Forklift operations
- Crane operations
- Work independently
- Maintain a clean job site
- Familiar with pneumatic tools
- Familiar with hydraulic tools
Skill/Ability/Knowledge Requirements
- 3 years’ experience as a tugboat deck hand
- Versatile and willing to pitch in wherever needed to help the team
- Team player
- Good judgment and personal maturity
- Valid driver’s license and personal transportation
