We are seeking a hands-on Property Maintenance Engineer to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operation of a portfolio of boutique commercial office buildings located in Downers Grove and Oakbrook Terrace.
This position is ideal for an experienced building engineer, maintenance technician, or skilled tradesperson who enjoys a variety of work, takes pride in maintaining high-quality properties, and values working directly with ownership in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine property inspections, preventive maintenance, and general repairs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building maintenance issues.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Respond promptly to tenant maintenance requests and service calls.
- Assist with tenant move-ins, suite modifications, and property improvement projects.
- Maintain building systems, maintenance records, equipment inventories, and supply lists.
- Perform occasional custodial and grounds-related tasks, including sweeping, vacuuming, light landscaping, snow and ice treatment, and general property upkeep.
- Ensure all buildings and grounds remain clean, safe, professional, and well-maintained.
- Communicate regularly with ownership and property management regarding building conditions, maintenance priorities, and tenant concerns.
- Foster positive relationships with tenants, vendors, visitors, and contractors.
Qualifications
- Experience in commercial property maintenance, building engineering, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related trade.
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic proficiency with email, text messaging, and mobile applications.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to lift equipment and materials and perform physical maintenance activities as needed.
Pay: $55.00 per hour
