Primary Duties
- Lead seasonal, annual, and long-range financial planning for assigned categories, including sales, margin, inventory, and turn
- Translate merchandise and assortment strategies into financial plans, identifying risks and opportunities
- Serve as a primary Finance partner to Merchandising, providing analysis and scenario modeling to support key business decisions
- Own ongoing forecasting and performance management, including variance analysis and reforecasts
- Identify trends in sales, margin, and inventory performance and recommend actions to address gaps or opportunities
- Communicate changes in merchant strategy or performance that impact the P&L, cash flow, or inventory
- Partner closely with Planning & Allocation to ensure alignment between financial plans and inventory flow
- Support the development and coaching of junior planners
- Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes and tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
- 7 years of experience in merchandise planning, merchandise finance, FP&A, or related financial roles
- Experience managing sales, margin, and inventory plans in a retail or consumer goods environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
- Ability to clearly communicate financial insights to cross-functional partners and leadership
- Retail or consumer goods industry experience
- Experience partnering closely with Merchandising or Category Management teams
- Prior experience coaching or mentoring junior team members
Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
- The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
