Salls Brothers Co is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction equipment in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, dump trucks, and related machinery.
- Inspect equipment to identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
- Complete preventative maintenance services (oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, etc.).
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems.
- Use diagnostic software and tools to identify faults and calibrate systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs.
- Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors regarding equipment condition and repair timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain and stock field service truck with necessary tools and parts.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience working on heavy construction equipment (field experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
