DESCRIPTION:
Salisbury Christian School is seeking applicants for a full-time Educational Support (Special Education) Assistant for the 2025-26 school year. We are seeking a relational, energetic, and patient individual who displays genuine interest in Middle and High School-aged students and a desire to serve others. Duties include in-classroom academic support, student supervision, and delivering academic intervention instruction (with teacher guidance). Successful individuals will be flexible and able to keep up in multiple fast-paced classroom environments. Applicants should be prepared to articulate an active faith in Jesus Christ; prior school experience preferred.
JOB PURPOSE:
The qualified individual is committed to fulfilling our mission within our community of students and families by supporting the educational, spiritual, social, and emotional development of students. This is an hourly position during the approximately ten-month academic school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Demonstrate knowledge of developmental characteristics various age-levels of students;
- Demonstrate the ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students;
- Provide small group or individualized instruction under the direction and supervision of general education and educational support teachers;
- Provide in-classroom support to students by redirecting, restating directions or content, etc.;
- Maintain documentation of services provided to students;
- Guide independent study work as assigned by teachers;
- Provide adequate student supervision both within and beyond the classroom setting;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student progress and other sensitive information;
- Cultivate a complementary relationship with many different teachers that results in teamwork and problem-solving;
- Assist with enlarging the vision and mission of Salisbury Christian School;
- Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling;
- Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ and assist them in making positive life choices;
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout all activities;
- Keep the Administration adequately informed of serious student issues;
- Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public;
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration;
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and Administration;
- Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned;
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth;
- Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school;
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible;
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Administration.

1-3 years working in an educational setting preferred.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma;
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Sit and stand for extended periods of time;
- Lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
- Frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds;
- Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer;
- Possess close vision, distance vision, and depth perception;
- See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
- Stand, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl;
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels;
- Speak in audible tones so as to be understood clearly in normal classrooms.
