Job Duties Include
The Assistant County Engineer performs professional engineering duties
in the planning, designing, drafting and inspection of departmental
projects and performs related work as required. Acts as the assistant to
the County Engineer. Supervises and assists in the design and plan
preparation of bridge, culvert, grading and paving projects. Reviews,
prepares and acquires all regulatory permits and approvals required for
the project. Prepares bid documents for the purchase of department road
and bridge materials. Oversees the inspection and payments of
construction projects in progress. Supervises and assists surveying
crews. Prepares cost estimates on planned projects in preparation for
bid letting. Preforms and coordinates bridge safety inspections and
submittals to the Kansas Department of Transportation. Contacts
landowners and makes the necessary arrangements to purchase right-of-way
for field projects. Evaluates and designs traffic signage and pavement
markings. Assists the County Engineer in the preparation of budges and
annual reports. Attends meetings, conferences and professional
development programs related to engineering. Performs other duties as
deemed necessary or as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have a valid Driver\'s License and be insurable under Saline
- Must be a Professional Engineer. Must be licensed by the State of
