This position is located at Salinas Valley State Prison, CA (SVSP), which is accessibly located right off Highway 101, in Soledad City. Conveniently located, an hour from Monterey Beach and Carmel, plus only 1 and a half hour from San Jose International Airport. In the heart of adjacent communities such as Soledad, Greenfield, and Gonzales. With larger cities neighboring such as Salinas, and Hollister. Under the direction of the Supervising Correctional Cook, plan, organize, supervise, and assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food; supervise the maintenance of Culinary equipment, supplies, and work; instruct and enforce proper safety standards; maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates; protect and maintain the safety of persons and property; do other work as required.

This classification also receives an additional $200 per month for recruitment and retention. Uniform allowance is also an incentive.
