Join our dynamic team as a Landfill Supervisor, where you will lead and oversee daily operations at the of transfer stations, landfills, household hazardous waste collections, and scalehouse facilities.
- Organize, supervise, and support field operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee hazardous waste collection, disposal activities, diversion efforts, and day-to-day facility operations.
- Monitor contractor performance, contract administration, and operational projects.
- Ensure compliance with facility permits, health and safety codes, and operational specifications at transfer sites.
- Oversee maintenance activities and prepare required regulatory and permit reports.
- Manage operations staff, including performance evaluations, training, development, and safety oversight.
- Analyze safety data and develop strategies to reduce accidents and injuries.
Assist with developing Occupational Safety & Health standards and conduct safety audits of work environments.
Perform other assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the operation of heavy machinery including loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, and garbage trucks to ensure safe and efficient waste handling.
- Coordinate daily landfill activities such as waste placement, compaction, and cover procedures to optimize space utilization and environmental compliance.
- Oversee sanitation and cleaning routines within the landfill area to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment.
- Manage heavy lifting tasks involving various equipment to facilitate waste transfer and site maintenance.
- Ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with safety guidelines; conduct routine inspections and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Lead a team of operators and workers, providing clear instructions, training on heavy equipment operation, and enforcing safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, safety inspections, and operational logs to support compliance and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Six (6) years of work experience in public works maintenance, construction, and operations work or a related field
- At least (2) two years in a supervisory position.
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- A valid California driver's license is required
