POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
The Ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic/therapeutic Ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. The technologist performs diagnostic medical ultrasound on all patient populations (infant through geriatric) and exhibits superior levels of customer service. The technologist effectively operates ultrasound equipment to produce quality images in a variety of settings (Radiology Department, Operating Room, and the patient's bedside). The technologist explains procedures and answers question for the patient. The technologist demonstrates appropriate patient positioning to obtain optimum views of specified anatomy. The technologist adjusts equipment controls to set proper protocol based on knowledge of the procedure and established guidelines. The technologist assists the Radiologist, when necessary. The technologist interacts with numerous computer programs and systems on a daily basis.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology or and approved Ultrasound technology program
Minimum Experience
One-year hospital experience preferred
Required Registration/License/Certification
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Abdomen and Vascular certification preferred
CPR certification (Basic Cardiac Life Support [American Red Cross-CPR for the Professional Rescuer] or Basic Life Support [American Heart Association-Health Care Provider] obtained within first 90 days of employment
