POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary:
Primary responsibilities include performing mammography exams and bone densitometry exams on adult and geriatric patients. The technologist explains procedures to the patient, demonstrates appropriate patient positioning, and obtains optimum views of specified anatomy. The technologist adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors based on knowledge of the procedure and established guidelines while demonstrating effective radiation safety practices. The technologist maintains continuing education and appropriate clinical procedures requirements as required by FDA, and ACR. This employee will oversee all aspects of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and will be responsible for inspection preparation and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation. Responsible for coordination of tasks and documentation for Quality Assurance. Ensures the department consistently produces high quality mammographic exams and procedures to aide in medical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The technologist interacts with numerous computer programs and systems on a daily basis. The technologist will also perform general Radiology and CT exams as needed, Cross training for CT will be facilitated by department staff.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Minimum Experience
Previous mammography and hospital experience preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry in Radiography (R) or completion of registration within first 90 days of employment
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registry in Mammography (M) or completion of registration within first 90 days of employment
Registered or Registry Eligible for ARDMS, CT, or MRI preferred
Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) through the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA)
Current eligible Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or completion of eligible BLS Certification within first 90 days of employment
