    Job Summary:
    The M.T.S.S. specialist is responsible for supporting implementation of the social, emotional, and character development (SECD) standards, leading our intervention support groups and overseeing PLC's, and supporting and implementing other district initiatives: R.T.I., PBIS, CHAMPS/DSC, and Restorative Practices. The M.T.S.S. specialist will provide on-site assistance to help Lakewood Middle School address barriers that interfere with students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success.
    Qualifications:
    Valid Kansas Teaching license
    Eligible to obtain Kansas Building Leadership license upon hire
    Essential Functions:
    The successful candidate for M.T.S.S. Specialist will:
    • Exhibit organizational skills
    • Have knowledge or willingness to learn about national and state curriculum standards relating to social, emotional, and character development
    • Serve as a team player with strong conflict resolution skills
    • Set goals, construct action plans, and carry out such goals and plans.
    • Possess initiative to keep current on research about trends, innovations, and effective practices
    • Possess strong technological skills
    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the school program
    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with district-level directors and program coordinators
    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with community organizations and create stakeholder partnerships
    Responsibilities:
    • Support administrators, teachers, and other school staff in identifying root causes of student behavioral issues and ways to meet student social and emotional needs.
    • Work collaboratively with PLC's to develop interventions for students falling behind.
    • Assist with behavior data disaggregation and evaluation.
    • Coordinate Testing Needs of Building
    • Introduce staff to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student ability to access the educational environment
    • Coordinate and conduct staff development at the school and district levels
    • Make informal classroom observations and provide immediate feedback for the purpose of behavioral support and program improvement (not evaluation).
    • Assist teachers in incorporating the use of classroom management strategies into the instructional program.
    • Data collection focused on increasing program fidelity across all buildings.
    • Observe district policies at all times.
    • Serve as a liaison between the district, building, family, and community stakeholders.
    • Analyze and monitor data in order to plan with district and building personnel to target nonacademic areas creating barriers to student success.
    • Perform other duties as directed/requested by the Principal.
    Certified Salary Schedule
    Range: $46,250 - $76,938
