Responsibilities
- Prioritize the needs and safety of children above all
- Arrive at work and be at designated station by assigned time
- Counselors are expected to plan, supervise, and take an active part
- Take daily written attendance of assigned group. Parents must sign
- Take roll, by name, for your group every time location is changed in
- Carry childrens files in group bag at all times
- Assist Lead Counselor with the upcoming weekly activity plans for
- Follow all Ys Kids schedules. Changes must be approved by the School
- Responsible for putting their groups whereabouts on the dry erase
- Keep written records of personal notes and schedules pertaining to
authorization to pick up to the childs packet
- All counselors are expected to be able to administer correct
all medication given and the times on the proper form of each
participants packet
- Administer first aid in a timely manner as needed and fill out all
- Discipline participants when appropriate and fill out all proper
- Complete general housekeeping duties related to activities. Pay
after a group uses them
- Assist with the preparation, serving, and clean up of all snacks
- Communicate with other counselors, coordinators, and other YMCA
- Check for safety of materials, equipment, and facilities daily
- Each counselor will ensure that all children follow all of the
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants,
conduct at all times
- Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner
- All other duties as required
- Be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate, and Meet one of
- 60 college credit hours, or
- 12 months of related experience, or
- 30 college credit hours plus 6 months of related experience, or
- A Bachelors degree with experience (for larger programs)
- Have a working knowledge of elementary school aged children, their

- Ability to work in a team setting, values education, and have a
recreational youth sports, arts, and crafts
- Able to relate to children and parents and must stay within the YMCA
- Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire
