What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Instructor position at Salina Area Technical College?
Reports to: VP of Instruction
Required Qualifications: • Experience in field of expertise
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, staff, and faculty
- Knowledge of computers and current technology
Position Summary:
To provide instruction and classroom management to students in programs when faculty are
absent for a day or longer.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide instruction based on available lesson plans
- Maintain current knowledge of teaching discipline/field of study
- Utilize active learning and assignments to support teaching and learning outcomes
- Manage classroom effectively, encourage student participation, maintain positive learning
- Provide in-class and at-home assignments based available lesson plans
- Support the vision, mission, and policies of Salina Area Technical College
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional physical exertion to manually lift, carry, push, pull or move objects or materials less
- Generally, involves 80% sitting, 10% walking and 10% standing, however some days may
- Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching
- Requires acute hearing and speaking skills
- Requires fine dexterity to type, enter data and provide written communications
- Use of standard office equipment including computers and general office equipment
- Work is performed in a busy and noisy environment
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing
- May require traveling to various sites
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt; Hourly
Full-time or part-time: Part-time
