What You’ll Do:
Act as a key liaison between surgeons and the pre-authorization team, identifying when intraoperative procedures require updated authorizations or coding alignment.

Review and confirm preference card charges for accuracy on every surgical case.

Ensure implants are accurately charged and properly documented, including implant activity logging.

Close electronic OR charts to maintain an accurate and up-to-date case queue.

Build and maintain surgical services libraries, including preference cards, implants, tissues, and grafts.

Verify vendor invoices (e.g., Sightpath) align with completed cases.

Track and document all charge corrections, quantify financial impact, and communicate findings to Surgical Services leadership, HIM, and PFS/Finance teams.

Serve as a trusted OR charge resource, evaluating anesthesia minutes, procedural charges, and supply usage—and correcting discrepancies.

Collaborate with Materials Management to ensure accurate supply and implant naming conventions and pink sticker accuracy.

Partner with surgeons, nursing, anesthesia, vendors, and leadership to support accurate billing and optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you’ll need the following skills, experience, and attributes:
- Attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
- Proficiency in state-of-the-art office technology, including the full Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and EHR experience.
- A strong ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, tact, discretion, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to changing priorities and demonstrating resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
- Must be knowledgeable in all areas of the perioperative arena.
Education and Experience:
- Medical terminology experience required.
- Clinical care experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
