Director of Acute Care Services will be responsible for overseeing Nursing Administration (Med Surg, ICU, Case Management, Emergency Department, and Nursing Supervisors)
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse leader to serve as Director of Acute Care Services. This leadership role is responsible for the oversight of multiple, diverse departments within the acute care service line, driving organizational performance through collaboration, innovation, and alignment with the hospital’s strategic vision.

Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) with at least 3 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Master’s preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees—Emergency Department, Med Surg unit, Intensive Care Unit, Case Management, and Nursing Supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must maintain current CPR, ACLS, & PALS certifications
- Current Colorado nursing license.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for several departments within the acute care service line
- Drive performance improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals and patient care standards
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across departments
- Promote effective communication and information sharing to enhance coordination and outcomes
- Serve as a role model and mentor for clinical and support staff
- Maintain the ability to step into frontline responsibilities as needed.
- In coordination with the Case Manager, concurrently reviews patient admissions and continued stays for appropriateness with the working knowledge and use of evidence base utilization management guidelines.
- Collaborates with physicians, discharge planner and nursing staff with the transition of a patient and family from one environment to another.
- Coordinates the Swing Bed program including facilitating the admission.
