Job Summary:
Utility ensures all residents, staff, and guests enjoy meals that have been prepared in clean cooking vessels on clean equipment, in a clean kitchen, and are served on clean and sanitary service ware.
Essential Job Functions:
- Washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, and pans by cleaning items in approved areas and using the proper procedures, equipment, and chemicals.
- Maintains availability of cooking utensils and service ware by restocking clean and dry items after washing.
- Keeps the Dining Service Department areas free of trash and clutter by safely removing garbage vessels, boxes, and other items in a timely manner.
- Maintains safe and sanitary work areas by keeping all work and equipment surfaces clean: keeping floors swept, mopped, and free of debris; performing other general cleaning duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Maintains clean equipment and facility by following weekly cleaning schedules.
- Supports teamwork within the company by assisting departments with special requests and projects at the discretion of the supervisor.
- Supports Salemtowne Shines culture & philosophy.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and following written and verbal directions.
- Upholds the utmost attention to the cleanliness and detail towards sanitation in food service.
- Ability to strive to do the best job possible and accountable for one’s own action.
- Capability of handling routine problems effectively.
- Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures and maintain a safety-first mindset.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage high-volume dish washing.
Education and Experience:
- None.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects more than 50 pounds.
- Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
- Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.
Work Environment:
Works in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated kitchen and dining rooms. Possible work hazards include cuts from utensils, burns, falls due to wet floors, quick temperature changes in and out of refrigeration areas and around steam tables.
