Medication Aide, FT, 7a-3p

Job Summary:

The Medication Aide administers daily medication to patients/residents in skilled nursing.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Delivers routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to patients.
2. Coordinates with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
3. Follows written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
4. Records medication dosages and times.
5. Observes patients and documents changes in their condition.
6. Gathers samples for analysis.
7. Ensures equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
8. Upholds all health and safety standards.
9. Responds to patient emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify patient needs.
10. Works in the capacity of a CNA when needed.
11. Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values by becoming familiar and acting in accordance with company policies and procedures.
12. Promotes exceptional customer service by participation in Salemtowne Shines & fulfilling the commitments & values of the program.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or relevant qualification.
• Must be a certified medication aide.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medication aide.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull objects more than 50 pounds.
• Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
• Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.

Work Environment:

Works in a clean, well-lighted facility. Possible work hazards include bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, muscular pains, and strong offensive odors.
