Position Summary: The School Nurse at Salem4Youth is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students in a Christian boarding school environment. This role requires a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) who can provide professional medical care, manage medications, and train staff to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Part-time position with 8-10 hours a week.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Health Monitoring:
- Conduct weekly health checks for all students and document findings.
- Respond to minor injuries and illnesses and coordinate care when necessary.
Medication Management:
- Organize and maintain individual medication boxes for each student.
- Ensure medications are properly labeled, stored, and administered according to physician instructions.
- Track medication inventory and communicate with parents/guardians regarding refills or changes.
Staff Training & Support:
- Train cottage staff on proper medication administration and health protocols.
- Provide ongoing education on first aid, emergency response, and infection control.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate health records in accordance with state regulations and school policies.
- Ensure compliance with ISBE and other applicable health standards.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement health-related emergency plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for medical emergencies on campus.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois.
- Experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to train and communicate effectively with staff.
