Simulation Coordinator / Nursing Faculty
Location: Salem, WV, on campus
Status: Full-time, 12 months
Workload: 40 hours/week, On-campus role
Salary: $70,000
Position Summary
The Simulation Coordinator/Faculty Member is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning experiences within the School of Nursing. This role supports pre-licensure nursing programs by integrating evidence-based simulation practices, managing simulation and skills labs, ensuring operational readiness of equipment and technology, and providing teaching and clinical supervision as assigned.
The Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Director and nursing faculty to ensure simulation activities support course objectives, program outcomes, and alignment with licensure and accreditation standards. This individual also serves as a faculty member responsible for teaching, advising, assessment, and participation in governance and continuous quality improvement. The Simulation Coordinator/Faculty will report to the Dean of Nursing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Simulation Coordination (Primary Responsibility)
- Develop, implement, and evaluate simulation scenarios using evidence-based standards (INACSL, NLN, AACN).
- Oversee the daily operations of the simulation and skills laboratories, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, and supply management.
- Maintain simulation technology, including high-fidelity mannequins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and software platforms.
- Collaborate with course coordinators and faculty to integrate simulation into curricula and assessment plans.
- Facilitate prebriefing, simulation sessions, and debriefing using recognized best practices.
- Train and mentor faculty on simulation pedagogy and safe learning practices.
- Maintains records of all simulation activities, including, but not limited to number of students participating, the number of faculty participating, number of hospital employees participating, video release forms, and videotapes of simulation events.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and programmatic requirements related to experiential learning.
Faculty Responsibilities
- Teach didactic, lab, or clinical courses as assigned.
- Provide clinical supervision in skills labs, simulation, and on-site clinical rotations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, evaluation, and student progression.
- Participate in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
- Attend School of Nursing meetings, committee work, and governance activities.
- Advise and mentor assigned students, offering academic and professional guidance.
- Engage in scholarship, faculty development, and continuing education, especially in simulation and experiential learning.
Administrative Collaboration
- Participate in program evaluation, accreditation activities, and report preparation.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of adjunct faculty teaching in skills and simulation labs.
- Assist in budget planning related to simulation supplies, technology, and equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications (WV BON-Compliant)
Education Rquirements
- Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or
- Bachelor's degree in nursing and enrollment in a graduate nursing program within one year of hire, or
- Bachelor's degree in nursing and at least 10 years of direct patient care nursing experience.
Professional Competence
- Current experience in nursing practice and nursing education demonstrating clinical and teaching competency.
- One to three years of experience in simulation with high and medium fidelity technology and simulation program operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
Licensure
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of West Virginia, or eligibility for WV licensure prior to employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in simulation (e.g., CHSE) or willingness to obtain within 24 months.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) simulation platforms and learning management systems.
