Summary:
Salem University is looking for potential adjunct faculty members to teach its undergraduate and graduate programs in the following areas:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Business
Computer Science/Information Technology
Criminal Justice
Education
Nursing
English
Math
Required Education and Experience:
- A terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.
- Professional experience in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Computer Science/Information Technology, Education or Nursing.
- Previous experience teaching online or face to face students at the university level is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success.
- 3 years of experience with learning management systems and using technology to improve the student learning experience.
The Adjunct Faculty Role
It is expected that adjunct faculty will:
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction and demonstrate enthusiasm for their learning.
- Provide thorough and constructive feedback to students, utilizing rubrics to effectively assess students’ work, while also acknowledging their accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Work effectively with Salem University toward continuous improvement of courses and programs.
- Provide feedback to the university regarding course quality, student participation and learning outcomes.
- Other requirements are provided in the Faculty Handbook.
Adjunct Faculty Training
All new faculty teaching online are required to successfully complete onboarding training as a condition of hire.
Salary
Salary is based upon the number of students per course.
Adjunct faculty candidates are required to provide official transcripts during the candidate selection process.
