Salem Church Preschool is hiring an Assistant Preschool Teacher.
Salem Church Preschool is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Preschool Teacher's Assistant to join our preschool team. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to help create a positive, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment where children can learn and grow through play. Position Details
- Part-Time non-exempt salary position paid monthly
- Monday–Thursday 8:45am-11:45am (2 hours of flex time as coordinated with director)
- 14 hours per week
- School year position (August 24- May 20)
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom.
- Support children during learning activities, free play, outdoor play, snack time, and daily routines.
- Encourage positive social interactions and model kindness, patience, and respect.
- Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, and daily set-up and closing tasks.
- Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Step into classroom responsibilities as directed by the Lead Teacher.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with young children is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with special education and early intervention strategies is a bonus.
- A warm, patient, and positive attitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, organized, and eager to learn.
- Ability to lift, bend, sit on the floor, and actively engage with young children throughout the school day.
- Must meet Pennsylvania state childcare employment requirements, including required clearances.
