Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Exempt, Fully Onsite

Schedule: 7:00 or 8:00 am – 4:00 or 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, 24/7 accountability


Your role with us

As the Facilities Manager, you will lead the operations, maintenance, and performance of critical infrastructure that supports a complex healthcare environment. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of building systems that are essential to patient care, caregiver support, and day-to-day operations.


You will oversee facilities and engineering operations, guiding teams responsible for maintaining vital utility systems, emergency power infrastructure, life safety systems, and preventative maintenance programs. Success in this role requires a leader who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional operational and people leadership skills.

What you'll do

  • Lead and manage facilities maintenance and engineering operations across the organization.
  • Ensure the reliability and performance of critical building infrastructure, utilities, and emergency power systems.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance programs to maximize operational effectiveness and minimize downtime.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring quality service, performance accountability, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate testing and maintenance activities for generators, fire and life safety systems, electrical systems, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure performance standards and maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and accreditation requirements.
  • Support environmental, life safety, utility management, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance records.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys and support corrective action planning when needed.
  • Develop and manage departmental operating budgets.
  • Monitor labor, materials, vendor contracts, and operational expenses.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Support capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and long-range facility planning efforts.
  • Serve as a key operations leader during emergencies, utility disruptions, and disaster response situations.
  • Ensure emergency systems, backup equipment, and operational recovery plans remain ready and effective.
  • Analyze operational metrics and performance data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop facilities team members, including supervisors and project leads.
  • Create staffing plans and on-call schedules to ensure continuous operational coverage.
  • Foster a culture centered on safety, customer service, accountability, and professional development.


Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree – Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Driver’s License: Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two years and be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire. The license must be issued by the state in which the employee resides. Candidates must meet Salem Health’s Fleet Safety Requirements and maintain eligibility to operate vehicles as part of their role to remain in good standing.
  • Three years of leadership experience.
