Elementary Developmental Preschool Classroom

Salem Community Schools is accepting applications for a Short-Term Substitute Teacher for our Elementary Developmental Preschool classroom at Bradie Shrum Elementary.

Position: Short-Term Substitute Teacher

Location: Bradie Shrum Elementary School

Assignment: Developmental Preschool Classroom

Beginning Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2026

Length of Assignment: Approximately six weeks

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and support for students in the Developmental Preschool classroom.
• Follow established lesson plans, classroom schedules, and student learning plans.
• Maintain a safe, positive, structured, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with instructional assistants, special education staff, therapists, administrators, and families.
• Support students’ academic, developmental, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional needs.
• Maintain student confidentiality and follow all school and district policies and procedures.
• Complete other duties associated with the classroom assignment.
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum Requirement: Indiana Substitute Teaching Permit
• Experience working with preschool-aged children or students with special needs is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, families, staff members, and administrators.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and employment requirements.
