What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT CCOG Student Navigator position at SALEM COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
Role: Supports the Financial Aid and Enrollment Management Departments to support CCOG eligible students through the application and awarding process. Performs a variety of administrative duties to support these efforts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides excellent customer service to students and college community.
· Supports Financial Aid and Enrollment Management Departments with outreach, planning and communication.
· Coordinates campus tours, information sessions, workshops and social media posts as appropriate.
· Assures fast and effective use of college RingCentral telephonic system to communicate with students.
· Assists students with questions throughout the financial aid & enrollment process.
· Conducts outreach to prospective and current students to support enrollment initiatives.
· Performs basic clerical duties and data entry functions.
· Acts as college representative for customers and staff.
· Supplies information requested by callers or refers inquiries to the proper person or department; takes messages in the absence of the person called and advises callers to wait or call back.
· Assists in the implementation and delivery of the assigned work/activities/services.
· Adheres to FERPA and other regulatory guidelines.
· Serves on College Committee(s), as assigned.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
Experience in customer service preferred. Experience working with students, preferably in a community college environment. Must be able to demonstrate high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Additional experience with various computer software programs is a plus. Must have experience in word processing, budgets, proposals and various reporting documents.
Education:
High school diploma required. Associate degree preferred. Additional coursework in computer applications and public speaking preferred. Other required education will be determined by the specific position.
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to work with a diverse student/staff population at various levels. Ability to exercise tact, patience, initiative, persistence, and good judgment when helping inquirers with situations.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, especially with students/parents/staff.
Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of current and emerging computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office products.
Ability to perform data entry functions for the work assigned.
Demonstrate computer skills, preferably Microsoft Office.
Other Skills:
Demonstrate ability to be self-disciplined, professional, and motivated. Provide documented ability to exercise sound judgment. Demonstrate a pleasant, outgoing personality, a stable and courteous disposition, and a record of dependability.
Demonstrate ability to quickly identify students’ needs and route them to the appropriate staff.

Physical Requirements:
The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment:
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
