Salco Machine is growing and we’re looking for multiple skilled CNC Lathe and Mill Operators to join our team immediately as we expand our operations. We’ve recently moved into a new, modern facility providing an improved work environment with upgraded equipment and a strong focus on innovation and safety.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components according to detailed specifications. Your expertise in machining processes, blueprint reading, and technical tools will be essential in delivering high-quality products efficiently. Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines to produce parts with precision and consistency
- Program CNC equipment using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and interpret G-code to ensure accurate machining operations
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to meet exacting standards
- Perform routine inspections using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine maintenance, tool changes, and troubleshooting issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following all shop safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, tooling, and welding equipment as needed for assembly or finishing tasks
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency while adhering to safety protocols
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or similar systems. 5 years minimum experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAM programming, and blueprint reading skills
- Familiarity with GD&T standards and mechanical knowledge for interpreting technical drawings accurately
- Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions and tolerances in machining processes
- Mechanical aptitude and/or experience in manufacturing environments involving plastics injection molding or welding is advantageous
- Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, forklifts, and other equipment required on the shop floor
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to promote continuous improvement in production processes
- Reliable attendance - Schedule is currently Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm. A second shift will soon be added to our production schedule.
