Job Title: Production Supervisor Reports To: Production Group Leader
Location: Niles, MI Department: Production
Employees Supervised: Production 1st Operators and Production Associates. Indirectly-Quality Associate, Materials 1st Operator, Maintenance 1st Operator, Training Coordinator, Process Techs and other hourly personnel on shift.
Purpose: Responsible for the management of the assigned shift and achieving KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and engagement in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Support safety, health, and environmental rules and lead by example. Coordinate 5S and housekeeping duties to maintain high standard of facility cleanliness. Conduct and/or lead Accident and/or injury investigations, serve as a first responder.
- Ensure product quality meets internal and external specifications. Conduct process and product audits according to the work instructions
- Responsible for the manning of the shift (assigning employees to the appropriate work stations); staffing additional tasks during shift.
- Check inventories and schedule. Plans and communicates production needs to the 1st Operators to ensure all production requirements are met and insure a good pass down before each shift.
- Responsible for KPI’s of the applicable shift. Communicate concerns, improvements and general information to the Team Leader or Production Group Leader.
- Consult with technicians who lead change-overs to ensure proper set-up procedure and run parameters according to work instructions
- Turn around any set asides and hold activity in a timely manner
- Troubleshooting / problem solving manufacturing problems. Leads or participates in problem solving efforts as necessary to achieve production goals.
- Audit employee time records using time and attendance, making entries and corrections as needed.
- Provide training, feedback, and coaching to team members according to procedures and best practices. Administer progressive discipline as needed in compliance with the facility work rules.
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles

Scope/Dimensions:
- Single site manufacturing location with 3 shift operation, supplying finished goods to Tier 1 Automotive OEM and Tier 2 customers.
- Supervises diverse group of technical and entry level employees. Responsible for approximately 100 team members.
- Monitoring and providing general information to the department managers & operations manager
- Actively participating in problem solving teams and other groups as necessary to achieve KPI goals.
- Relies on experience and understanding of glass and plastics processes and written customer requirements to determine proper actions.
- Demands and priorities need adjusted regularly to provide a high level of service under tight timelines to several customers internally or externally.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership or related degree or a combination of education and experience or equivalent experience.
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.
- Strong in analytical, innovative and strategic skills. Demonstrated Problem Solving Skills
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in English.
- Demonstrated personal computer skills including Microsoft office proficiency.
Qualifications Desired:
- Experience in hands-on technical support role, preferably injection molding.
- Experience with automotive Tier 1 manufacturing
- 6Sigma or other problem solving / continuous improvement certification
- Experience with IATF 16949
- OSHA 10 hour or similar certification

Physical Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the associate frequently works around moving machines/parts in an industrial environment. The associate occasionally works around industrial chemicals and other industrial hazards requiring PPE. The associate must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV record for use of company vehicles. Regular and predictable attendance at the manufacturing plant is required.
