Purpose:
The Network Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting network systems in line with business requirements and strategy. The Job holder also investigates, manages and resolves Infrastructure incidents and problems of the highest technical nature.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure Health, Safety and Quality is at the core of everything done in the workplace.
- Play an active role to ensure the Health and Safety requirements of themselves, and the team are managed to allow them to work in a safe way.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain global LAN, WAN and WLan infrastructure as part of a global and culturally diverse team.
- Collaborate with global Digital teams and external partners to ensure network reliability and performance.
- Support sites in their daily networking / digitalization challenges.
- Perform as sounding board as well as IT consultant to develop infrastructure solutions.
- Lead and direct implementing network changes, upgrades, and expansions and rebuilds.
- Support initiatives for network automation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Scope/Dimensions:
- Supports the implementation of network solutions within defined project budgets. Assist in cost estimation and vendor coordination pre project start as well as during project delivery.
- Contributes to the operation and support of network infrastructure and global telecommunications serving 15,000 endpoints.
- To be delivered in all countries, operational & project teams can be based around the world.
- Reports to Global Network Operations Manager to agree priorities, time scales, resources and budgets
- Works with:
- Other Centres of Excellence to understand technology strategy and roadmaps
- Service Delivery organisation to understand support implications and handover strategy as well as incident and change coordination
- If required, manage External Suppliers and Consultants in the provision of services / project.
- Understand Group Digital Strategy and therefore Applications roadmap and projects.
- Understand the Group’s MTP and therefore align projects
- Ensures stable and secure operation of network services.
- Incorrect execution could lead to local or regional outages, degraded performance, or security vulnerabilities.
- Escalates high-risk issues to architects or management.

Qualifications Required:
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP), including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Proficiency in network monitoring and performance tools (e.g., SolarWinds, NetFlow, SNMP, Wireshark)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking hardware and software – install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, load balancers, and wireless systems
- Knowledge of network segmentation, redundancy, and failover strategies
- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews to improve network reliability
Analytical Skills:
- Strong ability to analyze logs and data to detect and respond to incidents
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex network challenges
Soft Skills:
- Advanced English language skills, both verbal and written communication
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for analyzing complex infrastructure events
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Draft and enforce network policies, procedures, and standards
Qualifications Desired:
- Certifications – CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP-ENT, ACP or similar
- Network automation
- Ansible, Python, Nornir, Netmiko, Nautobot/NetBox
- Ability to write basic scripts for configuration management and monitoring
- General knowledge around VoIP & UC
- Experience with Advanced Network Technologies such as BGP, MPLS and SD-WAN
Other Requirements:
- This role also demands that the holder be comfortable about making fundamental design decisions and have the ability to customize the technology to meet the needs of the NSG Organization.
Salary Range: Starting from $83,124
