What are the responsibilities and job description for the Glass Shaping Engineer position at Salaried/Skilled Trades Careers at NSG Group?
Essential Functions:
- Apply engineering knowledge and experience to R&D and manufacturing glass products and processes
- Evaluate technical feasibility of existing processes to meet the manufacturing requirements of new automotive programs
- Support the design and implementation of new and existing processes to improve process capability and product quality/performance
- Support implementation of R&D projects into global manufacturing facilities
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, and other internal departments, to identify process improvement opportunities
- Conduct trials and analyze research data to develop new or improved products and processes
- Maintain accurate and detailed records (laboratory notebook and documents)
- Prepare presentations and reports, and communicate test results of research activities to management
- Provide technical input to the design and installation of process tooling to conduct testing and development activities
- Maintain and plan preventative maintenance on the R&D and development center process equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with R&D and development center equipment and processes
- Conduct or participate in risk assessments on new and modified equipment
- Able to travel domestically and internationally to R&D centers, manufacturing plants, supplier, and customer locations
- Adherence to the NSG/Pilkington safety standards
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Scope:
- Participates in, and supports, global R&D development projects
- Partners with manufacturing, as required, to provide technical support for automotive glass production.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, glass related field, or equivalent experience
- Engineering knowledge of glass
- 2-5 years of experience working with glass manufacturing and/or development engineering
- Demonstrated knowledge of problem-solving techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to travel 20% of the time
Qualifications Desired:
- Experience with glass coatings
- Understanding of Six Sigma quality improvement
- Understanding of DFMEA and PFMEA
- Mechanical aptitude
