POSITION OBJECTIVE
Provides total operational, and financial leadership of Rooftop Bar & Pool and maintains all applicable standards set forth at Hotel Bennett.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- It is the Bar & Pool Manager’s responsibility to meet the financial targets by executing and enhancing the guest experience, increasing staff knowledge, and managing all costs as defined by the budget
- Knowledgeable about the beverage trends.
- Maintains bar and pool staffing levels to provide for optimal performance commensurate to volume
- Ensures adherence to departmental and Hotel guidelines, policies and procedures
- Responsible for smooth, efficient, cost effective operation of bar and pool to include labor management, supervision of all aspects of service, inventory control
- Participates in the evaluation of food & beverage product, front-of-the-house employee performance, and development of product consistent with our market position
- Interacts with guests frequently to ensure satisfaction and enjoyment of dining experience
- Reviews daily payroll report, controls daily labor costs by flexing staffing levels in accordance with business volume
- Communicates daily with Chef in charge, providing current information on expected business levels
- Interviews, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels and disciplines departmental personnel at non-management levels
- Builds and enhances training curriculum to elevate the three pillars of business success: people, product and profit
- Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required to achieve same
- Coaches, counsels, retrains employees as needed to ensure superior levels of performance
- Attends all required Food and Beverage meetings to keep abreast of in-house activities and upcoming events
- Host departmental meetings as required to communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure that they are kept current on pertinent hotel information and activities
- Support other departments as may be necessary for a successful operation of Hotel Bennett.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Complete the South Carolina state-approved ServSafe Alcohol Online Course & Exam within 30 days of hire
- Possess a valid ABL Server License issued by the state of South Carolina within 30 days of hire
- 3 years experience managing bars with successful cocktail programs
- 2 years experience in pool and recreation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work tasks are performed both indoors and outdoors. Temperature inside is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in outdoor weather.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for a minimum of 8 hours in length. Walking and standing are required for much of the work day and possibly for 8 hours or more.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must be able to lift trays of food, food items, bags, cases weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
