Company : Allegheny Health Network Job Description : GENERAL OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of a level II or higher medical physicist, this job is responsible for all clinical aspects of medical physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Audits and reviews patient medical charts. 30% Performs quality assurance/control evaluations on radiation producing machines. 20% Assists with special clinical research and development projects as assigned. 20% Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and standards. 10% Advises and provides guidance to dosimetry and therapy staff and provides consultation services to attending physicians. 10% Assists with the delivery of patient care for special procedures. 10% Other duties as assigned or requested. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Master's Degree in Physics or related field CPR – American Heart Association Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate One of the following within 6 years of hire or transfer date: Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification - American Board of Radiology (ABR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics Certification - American Board of Medical Physicists (ABMP) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Radiation Oncology Physics Certification - Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) Magnetic Resonance Safety Certification – American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS) Preferred Doctorate's degree in Physics or related field 1 to 3 publications in medical physics SKILLS Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work independently in a challenging environment and take appropriate action.
