Position Title: Graduate Assistant
Reports to: Director, Student Academic Success/Act 101/Student Support Services (SSS-TRIO)
Primary Function
The Graduate Assistant for Student Academic Success/Act 101/Student Support Services (SSS-TRIO) will provide academic support to students, including SSS-TRIO, Act 101, and other at-risk student populations. This position will assist students in developing essential academic skills, such as note-taking, writing strategies, time management, and test preparation, to foster their success at Saint Vincent College.

Required Qualifications
- Must be accepted into a graduate program at Saint Vincent College.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
The Graduate Assistant may be responsible for, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Academic Advising: Provide individual academic advising to SSS-TRIO, Act 101, probation, midterm, academic alert, and other at-risk students, helping them develop effective academic strategies and set achievable academic goals.
- Summer Program Development: Assist in planning and executing summer program initiatives, including the Summer Bridge Program, to support incoming students in their transition to college.
- Goal Setting: Support students in identifying academic and career goals.
- Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor the academic progress of students in the program, including identifying students who may need additional support, and responding to academic alerts, faculty feedback, and midterm grades.
- Retention and Outreach: Contribute to retention initiatives by developing and supporting academic strategies that encourage student success and persistence.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of advising and mentoring sessions and submit reports as requested by the director or other staff.
- Research and Development: Conduct research on best practices for academic support programs and contribute to the development of future programming to meet the needs of SSS-TRIO, Act 101, and at-risk student populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Problem-solving skills to support students facing academic challenges.
