Director of the Institute for STEM Experiential Learning

In alignment with Igniting the Mission: The Strategic Plan for Saint Peter’s University 2025– 2028, the Director of the Institute for STEM Experiential Learning plays a pivotal role in advancing Saint Peter’s commitment to career readiness, social mobility, and Jesuit education through experiential learning. Reporting to the Executive Director of CEEL, the Director of the Institute for STEM Experiential Learning will lead efforts to expand experiential learning and professional development opportunities for STEM undergraduate students. The Director mainly serves as a Corporate Liaison to develop and maintain relationships with STEM employers, organizations, and agencies offering internships, externships, fellowships, job shadowing, mentoring, research, volunteer, and other experiential learning opportunities. The Director is responsible for leading a STEM advisory board and collaborating with key faculty members to develop a STEM badging/certificate program and comprehensive plans for integrating experiential learning activities within the STEM curriculum and courses. To be successful, the Director should have a strong interest and background in science and/or experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, or employer and community relations. The position supports the University’s vision to be a national model of excellence in Jesuit education, empowering students for thriving careers, social mobility, and purposeful lives of compassion and justice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison to external STEM employers, agencies, and organizations.
  • Develop and strengthen new and existing partnerships with employers, community organizations, and agencies that provide internships, research placements, cooperative education, and full-time employment opportunities.
  • Coordinate with CEEL team to actively engage employers and organizations to host workshops, employer visits, career panels, industry networking events, and speaker series highlighting STEM pathways.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Coordinator for STEM Faculty Development to introduce career-based learning activities within the STEM curriculum, such as: credited internships, case study courses and capstones, job simulations, field experiences, service learning, job shadowing, and volunteering experiences.
  • Develop and implement a STEM Experiential Learning Certificate or Digital Badge Program recognizing participation in research, internships, and professional development.
  • Support collection and reporting of student participation and outcome data to inform program evaluation and improvement. • Lead workshops and presentations on STEM career readiness, professional communication, and emerging industry trends.
  • Provide individualized guidance to students seeking internships, research opportunities, or employment in STEM fields.
  • Convene and manage a STEM Industry Advisory Board composed of corporate and community leaders- Facilitate quarterly meetings and coordinate advisory workstreams to support partnerships, curriculum integration, and industry insight
  • Support grant proposals and external funding opportunities related to STEM workforce development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of CEEL and university stakeholders to advance strategic priorities in experiential learning and employer engagement.
  • Represent CEEL on institutional committees related to STEM education, internships, and student success.
  • Participate in professional associations and conferences related to experiential education and employer partnerships.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

Qualifications:

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s degree required; MBA, MS, or PhD in a STEM-related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in employer relations, experiential learning, talent acquisition, or academic-industry partnership development.
  • Demonstrated success cultivating strategic partnerships within STEM industries.
  • Strong understanding of experiential learning pedagogy and NACE Career Competencies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports for program improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Handshake, EAB Navigate, and other engagement platforms

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
