Job Description:
The Communications & Marketing division of Saint Peter’s University is seeking a Director, Public Relations to support its work with media placement, internal and external communications, press releases, and more. This position will report to the Assistant Vice President for Communications & Marketing, working closely with the Executive Director of Marketing and the Social Media Specialist. This role has no direct reports, but will be responsible for the overall creation and management of press release content both on the Saint Peter’s website and disseminated to local media.
Job Responsibilities:
Build and maintain press lists and cultivate relationships with both local and, where applicable, national media.
Draft press materials including announcements, University news, employee profiles, interviews, etc.
Edit and proofread University materials in partnership with the team.
Field media requests and direct to the appropriate department as needed, working with the University General Counsel to review.
Track and analyze University press coverage and provide monthly reports.
Stay connected to trends, industry happenings and the competitive marketplace, and sh
Liaise with all departments, including within the Office of Communications and Marketing, to ensure all communications are on-brand, strategic and consistent.
Partner with other University departments on relevant news stories for internal and/or external communications.
Collaborate with the agency partner and Advancement team on the University magazine including project management, writing and editing.
Develop and send weekly email to the University community highlighting events and updates; must be written to capture multiple audiences' attention across students, faculty and staff.
Activate crisis communications plan in partnership with the AVP of Communications & Marketing and key stakeholders as needed.
Other duties may be assigned.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000

Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Higher education and branding/marketing experience are welcome.
2-4 years of relevant experience in communications.
Superior written, verbal, and editing skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience with email distribution systems such as Constant Contact.
Ability to work both independently and as a teammate.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
