St. Peter Claver Catholic School is a vital part of the fabric of the Twin Cities African American community and has been serving children and families for nearly 70 years. We are excited to be opening a preschool at St. Peter Claver in February. The preschool will offer school day and full day (7:00am-5:00pm) preschool for children ages three to five years old. Our philosophy is that children learn best in a warm, caring environment through play and hands-on experiences. We are looking for a committed early childhood educator who supports our philosophy to lead our preschool team. This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits and paid time off.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the preschool director, the preschool teacher strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education; assumes responsibility for classroom leadership;works as a member of the preschool team; develops an appropriate learning and faith-filled, social environment; evaluates the needs of each student; evaluates and reports student progress; establishes positive school relationships; communicates with parents; participates in professional development; performs other job related tasks as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the director or principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet DHS requirements for teacher, AA and BA in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood
- Demonstrate evidence of good classroom management techniques
- Develop and maintain a positive atmosphere with colleagues
- Continue development in professional growth opportunities by attending workshops, in-services, and faculty meetings
- Ability to demonstrate or willingness to learn technology skills as the position demands
- Effective and timely communication with school, students, staff, and parents
