Position Summary: The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in the care, supervision, and management of a class of students in accordance with the mission and curriculum plan of Saint Paul’s School. The principal duties of the Kindergarten Assistant Teacher include: collaborating with the Lead Teacher to carry out activities on a daily basis, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, and contributing to the effective operation of the Lower School. The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher reports directly to the Lower School Division Director.
Job Description
- Support in the delivery of curriculum founded on the school’s philosophies whilst following childcare regulations
- Create positive learning environments including resources based on child-directed learning
- Develop strategies to guide positive children's behavior
- Build good, open communication with children, families, and staff
- Observe and record children's growth, development, and behavior
- Ensure the learning environment is clean, hygienic, and safe
- Help develop teaching goals for the school and its teachers
- Good classroom management skills
Education:
- Preferred: Associate Degree
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Required: CDA/CDAE/FCCPC/ or higher CPR /First Aid Certificate
Additional Requisites:
- Passion for working with young children
- Experience working in a childcare setting
- Fantastic organizational and teamwork skills
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- A good level of computer literacy
- Current First Aid certificate with anaphylaxis and asthma training
- Ability to pass a Level 2 FBI Background Check
- A good understanding of early childhood learning and development
- US work authorization
