General Information


Saint Paul Public Schools is seeking Occupational Therapists for the 2026 - 2027 School Year.

Minimum Qualifications

A valid Occupational Therapist license issued by the Minnesota Department of Health.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of research and trends in teaching and learning styles, as well as teaching and learning strategies to meet a wide range of student learning styles and abilities.
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to use, special education due process system, including timelines and due process paperwork.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents and students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

  • Support the State of Minnesota Graduation Standards and content area packages to promote curriculum in the school.
  • Provide occupational therapy screening assessment to students being evaluated for special education or receiving special education. Use Minnesota Department of Education guidelines for Occupational and Physical Therapy for decisions regarding service provision.
  • Provide intervention, including direct treatment, consultation and follow-up to students, birth to 21 years of age, determined to be in need of education-based occupational therapy. Assist team in determining specific, reasonable and appropriate educational plan including goals and objectives. Measure intervention outcomes through periodic monitoring and data collection.
  • Counsel students and their families/care givers and other service providers in areas related to occupational therapy screening, evaluation and intervention; make referrals when appropriate.
  • Select, prescribe, and provide services supporting effective use of assistive technology devices.
  • Serve as case manager when appropriate and advocate for students.
  • Collaborate with other professionals. Use communication skills that take into consideration educational and occupational therapy needs and cultural values of others.
  • Contribute to the District's inclusive workplace efforts by fostering a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
  • Document services for accountability and related billing requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

This is a 10 month position working 40 hours per week.

Pay range for this position is: $48,015 - $109,398
Maximum hiring step = step twenty (20)
