What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean of Academics and Faith Formation position at Saint Patrick Academy?
Responsible to: Head of School
General Description: The position of Dean of Academics and Faith Formation fulfills the mission of Saint Patrick Academy by focusing on the academic progression and faith formation of all students at Saint Patrick Academy. This is accomplished through the oversight of faith formation programs, curriculum and instruction, and benchmark assessments. The individual in this role must be a practicing Catholic who serves as a witness to the Catholic faith and can assist in collaborating on the spiritual leadership for Saint Patrick Academy.
Essential Job Functions:
- Update, revise, and record curriculum for all content areas
- Support teaching through coaching and evaluation
- Explore and introduce best practices in educational technology
- Create opportunities and means for differentiation within and outside of the classroom
- Lead professional development of faculty and staff
- Develop and lead faith formation experiences, faith community services and events, and promote positive character development
- Provide and coordinate student support services through teacher support, student counseling, and family engagement, in collaboration with the Dean of Students
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Saint Patrick Academy and the Hope for Tomorrow Foundation
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of Saint Patrick Academy
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Develops and manages annual curriculum, instruction, and faith budgets in coordination with the HOS
- Communicates effectively within the school community
Specific Duties:
Faith Formation
- Help to integrate further the Virtue Program into daily learning environment
- Host All School Virtue Assemblies to ensure school wide mastery of virtues program
- Support community growth and expectations through virtue messaging
- Facilitate parish sacramental prep through coordination with local area parishes ensuring readiness and comprehension of sacraments
- Manage the creation and maintenance of the annual SPA prayer book
- Lead the Liturgical Planning Committee
Academic Programs
- Ensure high quality of instruction and assessment at all grade levels
- Manage curriculum development and implement curriculum software
- Oversee standardized testing and set benchmarks and set benchmarks for academic achievement
- Lead professional development for instruction and curriculum mapping
- Implement greater levels of differentiation through the equipping of teacher skills and providing resources and support, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
- Graduate degree (preferred)
Experience:
- Classroom teaching experience required
Certifications and Training:
- Must complete a Safe Haven training application for Ministry within the first three days of employment.
