What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Grade Teacher position at Saint Monica Preparatory?
Saint Monica Preparatory, part of the vibrant, faith-filled St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, is seeking a 1st Grade teacher for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. SMPREP is rooted in the traditions and teachings of our Church, and in the Gospel message of Jesus. Our school provides a supportive environment which is dedicated to the academic progress , spiritual growth, and emotional development of each student.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:
- An understanding of the unique social-emotional development of primary grade students.
- Knowledge of CCSS; primary grade curriculum; instructional strategies; and classroom management.
- Effective collaboration between staff, students, and families.
- An understanding of learning and teaching in a professional learning community; the ability to make thoughtful, informed decisions; and the ability to teach in an environment that demands the integration of theory and practice in a Catholic school environment.
- The ability to uphold the Catholic identity and mission of our school.
The minimum requirements are:
- An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college.
- A California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a California Single Subject Teaching Credential, or equivalent.
- 2 years full-time teaching experience.
- Ability to join a professional community of educators committed to providing a challenging standards-based curriculum in a Catholic environment of service.
- Ability to use technology effectively through the use of adaptive/assignable educational programs.
In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are:
- An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Education
- Middle school teaching experience
Salary Range: $61,000 - $96,000
