St. Mary Catholic School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to serve as a 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher and content-area instructor for Social Studies and Science in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate will create a structured, engaging, and faith-filled classroom environment that supports academic excellence, spiritual growth, and the development of the whole child. This teacher will play a key role in helping students grow as critical thinkers, collaborative learners, and disciples of Christ, while fostering curiosity about the world through the study of history, geography, and scientific inquiry.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in Social Studies and Science for grades 6–8
- Serve as the 6th-grade homeroom teacher, supporting students’ academic, social, and spiritual development
- Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and classroom culture
- Foster critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and real-world connections across content areas
- Utilize differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students
- Create a structured, respectful, and student-centered classroom environment
- Monitor and assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments
- Communicate consistently with families regarding student progress, expectations, and classroom updates
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning, middle school initiatives, and school-wide goals
- Support the development of executive functioning skills, organization, and responsibility in students
- Participate in school liturgies, retreats, professional development, and community events
- Model Christian values and demonstrate a strong commitment to Catholic education and mission
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Middle School or Secondary licensure preferred)
- Valid Indiana teaching license (or ability to obtain)
- Experience teaching Social Studies and/or Science preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Commitment to integrating faith and learning
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
