Position Summary: The Custodian reports directly to the Housekeeping Manager. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working and living environment for all employees, students and visitors. This position may require weekend and afterhours responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Housekeeping Manager.
- · Clean carpet, tile flooring, hardwood flooring, and strip and wax flooring with appropriate equipment.
- · Dust and polish furniture.
- · Sweep, vacuum, dust mop and wet mop floors.
- · Clean and polish fixtures.
- · Clean and sanitize showers, toilets, and sinks throughout the campus.
- · Wash windows (inside and outside) and clean blinds.
- · Collect trash throughout campus buildings and/or dispose of all waste in provided dumpster.
- · Handle recycling containers and remove recycling materials.
- · Stock bathrooms with paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
- · Clean stairwells and halls (carpeted and hard surfaces).
- · Clean around outer doors and porches.
- · Clean laundry rooms including washers and dryers.
- · Assist with event set-up, takedown and cleanup afterwards, including moving tables and chairs.
- · Clean chalk boards and white boards in classrooms every morning.
- · Clean up after renovation or construction.
- · Wear all common protective or safety equipment, such as slip resistant shoes, steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection or hard hats as assigned for your position based on the training and instruction provided by your supervisor.
- · Clean up after spills using bloodborne pathogen protocol (vomit, blood, etc.).
- · Perform thorough summer cleaning of all residential housing (dorm rooms, houses and apartments).
- · Deliver packages across campus.
- · Help move furniture across campus.
- · All other duties as assigned or needed.
· Perform weekend and night responsibilities to support the life of the residential community and the academic program as required by your position or requested by your manager/supervisor.
