Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education and teacher certification preferred
- Applicants must have a passion for working with students in a classroom setting
- Excellent classroom management skills to facilitate a safe, nurturing, and positive academic environment
- Prior experience working with children in an organized setting
- Assist students with exercises and class activities, concentrating efforts with small groups of students and individuals as necessary
- Assist individual students when needed
- Compile, prepare and organize materials and classroom for instruction and activities
- Assist in cleaning and storing of materials after completion of activities
- Reinforce all knowledge and skills taught by the Lead Teacher
- Model proper behavior and play
- Prepare daily snacks for students
- Assist teachers by recording attendance and monitoring student work
- Communicate all parent requests to the Lead Teacher in a timely manner
- Refer all parent concerns and queries to the Lead Teacher related to student performance and or behavior
- Attend parent conference or share observations with parents with the knowledge and
- Interact with various individuals such as teachers, administrators, staff, parent volunteers, etc.
- Substitute as the Lead Teacher as needed
- Escort students to other areas on campus, monitoring student behavior, checking home materials/folders and running errands as deemed necessary by the Lead Teacher
- Supervise and assist students during dropoff and pickup, in the halls, on field trips, during classroom work time, lunch and on school grounds
- Coordinate and/or participate in special programs or projects as assigned
- Attend staff meetings and participate in inservice trainings as required
- Receive and respond to inquiries and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility
- Keep abreast of state standards of education in curriculum and instruction
- Attend training, workshops, etc. as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills
- Perform related duties as required
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of an orderly environment and clean classroom materials
- Responsible, in collaboration with the Lead Teacher, for the safety and physical wellbeing of the students at all times
- Attitude of collegiality and to be able to communicate effectively, positively and collaboratively with educational team and especially parents
- Ability to build and foster positive, professional relationships with parents
- Positive ambassador for Saint Mary’s Hall in the larger community
- Ability to meet the demands and challenges of a fastpaced work environment and demonstrate flexibility as needed
- Possess a good working knowledge of and/or a familiarity with a variety of instructional technology such as Windows applications, iPad integration, interactive whiteboard, and student portfolio applications and a willingness to implement new instructional technology initiatives
- Work in a fastpaced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods
- May occasionally work events, nights, or weekends
- Must be able to teach, instruct, and communicate with students, parents, coworkers, visitors, and other professionals
- Work primarily in a traditional climatecontrolled classroom environment
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
