Position Summary:
The Site & Volunteer Coordinator serves as the day-to-day operational leader of the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery. This position is responsible for overseeing the functioning of the nursery, supporting staff development, supervising volunteers, and ensuring the quality and compliance of documentation and services. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, and proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, child-centered crisis environment.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field required
- Minimum 4 years of verified experience working with children and families
- Minimum 2 years of experience with the Crisis Nursery preferred
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must receive positive recommendations from two Leadership Team members
- Must have acceptable results from a file review check, with all required training and documents on file
- Documented positive annual performance reviews and/or awards for excellent service
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit new volunteers to provide an expanding base of support for the Nursery (through fairs, presentations, United Way Volunteer match (3x year).
- Provide support and guidance to new volunteers, completing tasks alongside them to acclimate them and develop rapport.
- Place weekly grocery order and schedule volunteer to pick up. Keep the food pantry stocked with food bags, diapers, wipes, and any other items.
- Schedule Donation drop offsReceive, organize, and put donations away promptly.
- Build rapport with local community partners to share and receive itemsKeep the basement clean and organized to minimize potential hazards.
- Ensure that all documentation (i.e. – applications, security forms, release forms, emergency forms, etc.) is complete, stored in each volunteer’s record and maintained per licensure requirements.
- Track and report all volunteer hours; submit volunteer stats by the 5th of every month.
- Complete monthly Operation Food Search stats by the 10th of every month.
- Support new staff, volunteers, and students through collaboration, shadowing, and training, as needed.
