What are the responsibilities and job description for the Butcher position at Saint Louis Club?
As a Butcher, you’ll be responsible for preparing various cuts of meat, poultry, and fish for sale or service. You’ll ensure products are handled, stored, and displayed properly while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality.
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM & Saturday (if necessary)
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, debone, and portion meat, poultry, and fish according to specifications
- Prepare meat for display and service, including grinding, marinating, and packaging
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of all products
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, tools, and equipment
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling procedures
- Interact with customers, answering questions and offering recommendations (if in a retail setting)
- Work closely with kitchen or retail staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meat products
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter preferred
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods, and storage
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift heavy items and work on your feet for extended periods
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification is a plus)
