Position Summary:

Responsible for establishing, maintaining and enforcing acceptable professional and ethical standards of the facility's medical services according to its policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives. Assists Administrative Director in ensuring the facilities meets all regulatory agency rules and regulations. The Medical Director works in unison with the Administrative Director and Clinic Director in coordinating and directing patient care in the facility according to adopted policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and accepted accreditation standards.

  • Performs in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures
  • Follows the facility's standards for ethical business conduct 
  • Conducts self as a positive role model and team member
  • Respects patients' rights to privacy, dignity and confidentiality
  • Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services and activities

General

  • Provides direct services to clients in the Opioid Treatment Program to include but not limited to; physical examinations, medication induction and diagnostic testing and assessments
  • Oversees medical issues of day-to-day operations
  •  Ensures the establishment, maintenance, continuing improvement and enforcement of acceptable professional and ethical standards and performance of the medical staff and patient care personnel
  •  Reports to the Administrative Director regarding the quality and efficiency of medical care provided
  • Maintains open line of communication with Administrative Director and Clinic Director
  • Supports administrative decisions and activities affecting patient care
  • Interprets and provides guidance on facility medical policies to enhance patient care

Professional Competence

  • Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
  • Participates in facility teaching programs for employees and medical staff on topics of special interest/pertinent to the clinical aspects of outpatient surgery
  • Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations

Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • Licensed and currently registered as such by NYS Education Department
  • Minimum of five (5) years of education, training and/or experience in substance use disorder services
  • Preferred - must hold a subspecialty board certification in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Medical Specialties, an addiction certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), or hold a subspecialty board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association.
  • Must possess current DEA Certificate
  • Must possess a federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified)
  • Must maintain credentialing requirements including continuing medical education units
  • Must possess ACLS or Advanced Life Support
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases. Additional Background Check Requirement:

Salary Range $250,000-$300,000
