Job description:
Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, NJ, owned and operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, is seeking to hire a highly qualified, organized, and passionate Head Coach for the Soccer Program. The Head Coach will conduct a Soccer Program that follows the mission of Saint Joseph High School which is to form young men, preparing them for life through holistic education in the Catholic traditions of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
Expectations:
The Head Coach will:
- Demonstrate strong inter-personal skills when interacting with the Director of Athletics and School Leadership, the players and student body, parents, PIM, and the Saint Joseph Coaching Staff and Athletic Trainer.
- Follow all directives and expectations as laid out by the Director of Athletics.
- Organize, implement, and oversee a year round plan as well as the day-to-day operations for our Soccer Program for the Varsity, JV, and Novice teams. This plan should promote the development of our student-athletes both on and off the field. This plan includes and is not limited to: daily practice sessions, game strategies, conditioning programs, film evaluation, scouting, varied instructional methods, and team building strategies.
- Utilize a plan for player evaluation and communication to each player. Appropriate goals and methods for player improvement, with feedback, will accompany the evaluation.
- Monitor academic eligibility and conduct, and assist athletes with college recruiting.
- Work with the Director of Athletics to fill out the game schedules for all three levels of play.
- Supervise, evaluate, and develop the assistant and sub-varsity coaching staff.
- Manage the program budget, equipment and uniform inventory, and travel logistics in coordination with the Director of Athletics.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary based on Coaching/ Playing Experience and Coaching Licenses.
-All Training / game day gear and equipment provided.
Requirements:
-Must be available to coach MON-FRI 2:30pm-4:30pm practices and 4pm-6pm for games. Saturdays *time varies- Sundays OFF
- Previous playing experience at a competitive level of high school / club soccer (College and beyond preferred but not mandatory)
-Previous coaching experience at a competitive level of high school / club soccer
Degrees/Certifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Minimum of F License (or Introduction to Grassroots Coaching USSF License) required.
- State-required coaching certifications (e.g., ).
- CPR, First Aid, AED, and Concussion education.
- Safe Environment training (e.g., VIRTUS or Protecting God’s Children)
- Valid Driving License.
- CDL preferred but not required.
