Assistant Director of Nursing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Clinical Operations & Oversight:

1. Assist the DON in daily clinical operations across SNF and AL
2. Provide supervision and support to nurses and nursing assistants
3. Conduct routine rounds (clinical, environmental, and quality of care)
4. Monitor changes in resident conditions and ensure timely interventions
5. Support admissions, transfers, and discharges
   
   

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

1. Maintain compliance with CMS, WI DHS regulations, and organizational policies.
2. Participate in survey readiness activities and accompany surveyors as assigned.
3. Perform investigations, ensure timely incident/accident reporting, and participate in root‑cause analysis.
4. Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy and compliance.

Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI):

1. Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring QAPI activities.
2. Track and analyze clinical indicators (falls, infections, wounds, hospitalizations).
3. Conduct audits and follow through on corrective action plans.
4. Participate in Performance Improvement Projects (PIPs) as assigned.

Staff Leadership & Development:

1. Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff across shifts.
2. Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts.
3. Support progressive discipline and performance evaluations as delegated.
4. Assist with developing and teaching in-service education and clinical competencies.

Communication & Coordination:

1. Serve as a liaison between staff, residents, families, providers, and leadership.
2. Support service recovery and family concerns.
3. Promote teamwork, communication, and conflict resolution practices.

Staffing, Scheduling & Resource Management:

1. Assist with developing staffing patterns and ensuring PPD compliance.
2. Monitor attendance, overtime, and staffing concerns.
3. Support the staffing coordinator in daily scheduling needs and emergency coverage

Infection Prevention Support:

1. Support infection control protocols and surveillance practices.
2. Assist the Infection Preventionist during outbreaks and monitoring activities.
3. Ensure staff compliance with PPE, hand hygiene, and standard precautions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

1. Supervises nursing staff as delegated by the DON, including RNs, LPNs, and RAs.
2. Provides leadership support to Nurse Managers, Supervisors, and other clinical leaders.
3. Acts as Director of Nursing in the DON’s absence.
4. Participation in the rotating on‑call schedule is required.
5. Other duties as assigned.
