The PreK-8th Grade Art Teacher's responsibilities include being the yearbook editor, sourcing art supplies, preparing lessons, and providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques. She/he should also be able to supervise lessons to ensure that learners interact in a supportive and respectful manner.
Essential Functions
- Provide grade-appropriate instructional programs for students in grades PreK-8 in the field of visual arts.
- Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
- Develop lesson plans with clear objectives in line with the Archdiocesan Course of Study.
- Uses relevant technology to support/enhance instruction.
- Maintains appropriate classroom management through positive behavioral interventions and supports.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress in Power School.
- Provides regular and consistent communication with parents, students, staff, and administration.
- Performs assigned duties when needed for the supervision of students before, during, or after school including lunch duties, recess duties, dismissal duties, and any other duties assigned by the administration.
- Year Book editor and Liaison
- Participates in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Current MSDE certification or ability to achieve required certification.
- Prior successful teaching experience grade level education.
- Basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about the integration of technology into lessons.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and organization skills required.
- This position requires absolute confidentiality, professionalism, and a team-player approach.
- Support and uphold Catholic moral and social teaching and the mission of SJRCS (practicing Catholic preferred).
- Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal fingerprint background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, and completion of all necessary paperwork.
- Demonstrates ability to operate with a growth mindset and seek opportunities for feedback.
Pay Range: $46,000, Annualized
