We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar (PAR), internally referred to as our Patient Registration Representative or Patient Access Representative, in the Admitting Department. The Patient Account Registrar (PAR) interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.
Shift's Available: variable
Employment Type: per diem/PRN
Hours: 8 hour shift
Location: Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, KS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- Interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics
- Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable
- Work closely with all facets of the Admitting Department, including PBX operator function and reception areas
- Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data
- Able to communicate with the population served utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology
- Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe

- Willingness to learn and be ambitious and successful in your role
Education and Training
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize needs to meet required timelines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Customer service experience
- Must be able to type
