Position Summary
The RN Trainer & Medical Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Waiver Residential Programs and in close collaboration with Community Home Managers to ensure exceptional medical care and smooth daily operations across Community Homes.
In this role, you will oversee and directly support all medical services provided to residents, ensure accurate documentation, train and certify staff, and maintain compliance with Saint Joe’s policies and procedures. Hands-on involvement and professional oversight of nursing and direct support staff are core to success in this position.
This role also participates in the rotating weekend on-call schedule, in collaboration with Saint Joe’s Community Respite team.

Position Summary

This role also participates in the rotating weekend on-call schedule, in collaboration with Saint Joe’s Community Respite team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, provide, and oversee medical care for Community Home residents
- Ensure accurate and timely medical documentation and medication administration records
- Train, coach, and certify staff in required medical and DODD competencies
- Maintain compliance with all Saint Joe’s policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for nurses and direct support professionals
- Collaborate effectively with leadership and interdisciplinary teams
- Respond calmly and decisively during emergency situations
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with the Ohio Board of Nursing
- Minimum of 18 months of full-time (or equivalent) RN experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)
- Ability to obtain and maintain DODD RN Trainer certification
- Strong collaboration, leadership, and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently with accountability and ownership
- Calm, sound judgment in high-pressure or emergency situations
- Valid driver’s license with fewer than 6 points
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Current Ohio RN license in good standing
- Registered Nurse Train-the-Trainer certification (authorized by the Ohio Board of Nursing) within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency with computers, including:
- Medication administration databases
- Email and electronic documentation systems
