In this essential role, you’ll support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by reinforcing therapy goals, assisting with mobility, and ensuring proper care of adaptive equipment. You’ll work closely with therapists and clinical staff to help each resident achieve their individualized habilitation goals outlined in their Ohio ISP.
⭐ Key Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance passive range of motion to assigned residents
- Carry out therapy goals as directed by physical, occupational, and speech therapists
- Assist with wheelchair clinics and therapeutic swimming sessions
- Maintain, clean, and repair adaptive equipment and wheelchairs
- Monitor resident condition and respond appropriately to changing needs
- Document health updates, progress, and incidents accurately
- Follow proper lifting, transferring, and emergency procedures
- Support residents with daily activities in a respectful, person-centered manner
- Attend required training and meetings to stay current with best practices
- Minimum age: 18
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous healthcare experience required; experience with individuals with I/DD preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Commitment to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in all interactions
